Environmental impact

Avalon acknowledges that as a lithographic and digital printing company, we have a responsibility to minimise our impact on the environment. This can, for example, arise directly through the consumption of energy or other resources used in our daily business activities, or indirectly through our supplier chain.
In 2009 to complement our FSC® certification we achieved ISO 14001 thus further minimising our impact on the environment.
Wherever possible we strive to minimise these impacts through good business practice and working knowledge of our suppliers. This policy aims to set out our objectives, goals and visions for the future.
The Avalon Group employs a specialist print waste management company who carry the ISO 14001 accreditation to deal with recycling of press consumables. The non-contaminated inks are stored in steel clip top bins, ready for collection. The inks can then be recycled to start blast furnaces or as a low grade fuel. Vegetable inks are a sustainable resource so if incinerated do not add extra carbon to the atmosphere. |
